Google has a new project, and it involves everybody and 10 million dollars!
In celebration of their 10th year anniversary, Google is looking for people with great ideas — ideas to change the world by helping as many people as possible.
“These ideas can be big or small, technology-driven or brilliantly simple, but they need to have impact,” Google’s press release stated. “We know there are countless brilliant ideas that need funding and support to come to fruition.”
Called Project10^100 (that’s “ten to the hundredth”), Google has committed $10M to fund up to five ideas selected by the judges. People are encouraged to submit as many ideas as they have on or before October 20, 2008. The selected ideas would be based on how many people it would affect, how deep the impact is to people, the attainability and efficiency of the idea, and the longevity of the idea’s impact.
In the age of technology now, we have so many information available, so many tools that can be used to do tasks, and Google is sure that there are many ideas out there that can help more people in our world. These ideas don’t only come from laboratories or universities, but can come from anybody.
I guess Google believes that million of heads are better than one as some brilliant ideas come one in a million.
